Yesterday I attended the matinee and was delighted to walk in to the Festival Theatre and see a beautifully dressed enthusiastic audience in the foyer. Lots of lovely aspiring young dancers!
The performance started with clever lighting and a dramactic set and from beginning to end I was glued to the stage.
Wonderful music by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, beautiful costumes, brilliant sets and or course some of the most amazing dancing you will ever see.
The technique and artistic quality that the dancers of the Australian Ballet is second to none and makes the company in my opinion the best in the world.
Conductor: Kenneth Young
Butterfly: Kirsty Martin
Pinkerton: Rudy Hawkes
Suzuki: Laura Tong
Sharpless: Andrew Killian
Goro: Yosvani Ramos
Kate: Juliet Burnett
I would like to make special mention of
Principal Kirsty Martin - Butterfly who stole the show. The most graceful, yet powerful dancer with impeccable technique and beautiful lines. I was so drawn in to her performance that the ending bought me to tears.
