Harvest is nearing completion. It has run relatively smoothly. I think!?
It seems to have flown by. Things have been busy with the boy's school and sporting
commitments and I have had my busiest ever months in the shed.
Yields seems to be good this year all over the Yorke Peninsula despite not getting
much of a finish on the crops.
There have been a few fires in the district this year. There was a big fire yesterday about
70kms South of us. I could see the smoke from our verandah. I always feel
uneasy on the hot and windy days.
We had one Catastrophic Fire Ban Day declared. On this day some schools in the area close and the school buses don't run.
The boys, especially Tommy are obsessed with farming!
The Reception and Year 1 class at our school has a group who all take their toy tractors, headers and trucks and play 'farms'every lunchtime. A few farmers of the future I think!
Looking forward to spending lots of time with my very tired looking farmer over the next few weeks leading up to Christmas and spoiling him rotten. The boys also cant wait to spend some time with their dad!
Hope the fire season goes away soon :(
ReplyDeleteYour boy is a cutie. He looks so much like you!
Enjoy the break with your boys.

Glad to hear my post was of assistance =)
ReplyDeleteAny idea as to what style of table and mirror would suit our house and fit in a limited 60cm space?

omg! I just loved reading this blog post today of yours as the photographs could be exactly from my farm that I grew up on, (parents have sold it now) just amazing, every single photograph! It was in Queensland though, not SA. Thanks so much for posting these wonderful photographs! Mxx
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed following the harvest on Instagram. Your little one is such a farmer boy in his farm clothes! Enjoy the break over January, well deserved by the look of things.
ReplyDeleteLove the farm play at lunch! Thanks for dropping by my blog. I actually know Maitland very well - my Dad is from Maitland, and I used to spend every school holiday visiting my Grandparents. No family in the district now though, I remember last time I drove through ten years ago I was amazed at the plane trees on the main street (they used to be peppercorns when I was a kid) and the pub had been gentrified. Dad laughed when I told him! xx
ReplyDeleteHarvest is such a difficult and busy time isn't it. I'm not envious at all. Although I do remember feeling slightly hardly dne by in my younger years when I couldn't get any of my make friends to return a call.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very busy time of year for you! I hope you get to enjoy some down time over Christmas and news years. Always love visiting your blog and your beautiful shop. I've nominated you for an award, you can see the details here:

Hi Letitia. Gorgeous photos. I hope your tired farmer doesn't sleep through Christmas! Our hay season seemed to go forever with baler breakdowns but all good in the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely past comments on my blog - I forget to look at them. xx
Letitia, so good to see you today. Your family is stunning. Those boys! Have a beautiful Christmas xxx
ReplyDeleteI have a Tommy, too, but he is 20 and home from college. He looked like your boy when he was little. Always gives great hugs.
